MaryGail was born and raised in the public school system (1956-1968). She earned her nursing degree from the University of South Carolina in 1972. After school, she worked as a nurse at Fairfield Memorial Hospital until 1980 and then directed the Fairfield County Council On Aging until 1998, contributing to software development for aging services. Today, she is very involved in her community doing things like playing piano/organ for her church, organizing a community choir, mentoring at the juvenile justice system, and serving on various boards, including the Winnsboro Lions Club, the ElderCare Trust Fund, and the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce. She was a South Carolina legislator from 2013 to 2018 and currently serves on Governor McMaster’s Aging Advisory Board and the Central Midland Regional Planning Council Aging Advisory Board. MaryGail continues to be a dedicated advocate for her community and the elderly.
