Jack James, born on September 27, 1954, in Bryan, Texas, and raised in Sumter, South Carolina, is the son of the late George C. James and Ren F. James. A 1972 graduate of Wilson Hall School and a 1976 graduate of The Citadel with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, Jack began his career in banking before earning his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1993. He joined the family law firm in Sumter, eventually becoming a partner in Lee, Erter, Wilson, James, Holler & Smith, LLC. In 2008, Jack took over a law firm in Winnsboro and now serves as county attorney for Fairfield County, a title insurance agent, and is admitted to practice in various courts including the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Jack is an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church, has led the Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the board of trustees at Wilson Hall School.
